Orthodontic implants

The ankylotic insertion and healing of implants as anchors for the support of orthodontic therapy is the focal point of the interdisciplinary cooperation between the oral surgeon and the orthodontist.
However, this cooperation is generally not limited merely to the anchoring of retention elements.

Missing teeth can be replaced by implants.
However, implants are also used as purely retentive elements for the skeletal anchoring of orthodontic devices when teeth are to be moved over longer distances.
These implants are removed upon completion of the orthodontic therapy.

Moreover, implants can be used as a combination of retentive and restorative elements when they are inserted as retaining elements in a row of teeth with gaps and used as part of the implant-borne dentures in the prosthetic restoration after completion of the orthodontic therapy.
