Augmentation (bone augmentation)

There must be sufficient bone available for the insertion of the implant in the jaw. If this is not the case, the existing bone must be augmented. The patient's own bone or bone replacement material may be used for the bone augmentation. The augmented bone is generally protected by a membrane to facilitate speedy healing of the augmentation.
